Aquastop

Cemix® Aquastop is a cement based powder and when mixed with the required amount of water, can be applied with brush, smooth roller, sprayed or trowelled to any correctly prepared concrete or masonry surface. Cemix® Aquastop is recommended as a very effective, decorative waterproofing coating on interior or exterior concrete, masonry, concrete block, mortar, plaster, stucco and brick. It cannot be applied over bitumen, tar, oil, rubber, plastic, metal etc, surfaces or previously painted concrete surfaces.

Typical Applications & Uses
• As a membrane waterproofing solution for both the positive and negative face of a wall/floor or similar structure.

Advantages:
• Resists hydrostatic pressure to the interior surface
• Can be applied to a damp surface.
• Chemically bonds to the surface and will not chalk or dust.
• Does not support mould or fungus growth.
• Finishes white but can be tinted with oxide or painted.
• Provides a water repellant surface, which will withstand a head of water from the opposite side of the structure.

Substrate Preparation:
All loose particles, dust, dirt, oil and surface debris must be removed. As a filler, mix one part Cemix® Aquastop with two parts clean sand and mix with a little water. Use for larger cracks, hollows etc. If necessary the whole area should be water blasted to ensure perfect preparation.

Mixing:
To clean water slowly pour in the Cemix® Aquastop powder while stirring constantly with a flat stick to a smooth and creamy (paint like) consistency. Allow to stand for 10 minutes, stir before applying and stir occasionally while using to prevent settling. Cemix® Aquastop must be applied within two hours of mixing. Apply to the predampened surface thoroughly and evenly ensuring any air bubbles/pin holes are brushed out. Two coats are recommended for exterior surfaces and below ground level interior surfaces where hydrostatic pressure is to be contained. The second coat may be applied any time 6 hours after the first coat. Do not apply outside if rain is expected during or immediately after application. High winds, direct sunlight or excessive heat may cause Cemix® Aquastop to cure too quickly. It is recommended to paint exterior work while it is shaded.

Application:
Cemix® Aquastop must be applied within one hour of mixing. Apply to the pre-dampened surface thoroughly and evenly ensuring any air bubbles/pin holes are brushed out. Two coats are recommended for exterior surfaces and below ground level interior surfaces where hydrostatic pressure is to be contained. Apply second coat at right angles to the first. The second coat may be applied any time 6 hours after the first coat.

Drying Time:
Ambient temperatures dependent. Typically 7 days before it can resist the passage of water.

Curing:
Do not apply outside if rain is expected during or immediately after application. High winds, direct sunlight or excessive heat may cause Cemix® Aquastop to cure too quickly. It is recommended to paint exterior work while it is shaded.

Limitations:
• It cannot be applied over bitumen, tar, oil, rubber, plastic, metal etc surfaces or previously painted concrete surfaces or any other existing coating.
