Evaporation Retarder

Cemix® Evaporation Retarder is a surface applied finishing aid which retards the evaporation of moisture from the surface of freshly laid concrete slabs prior to the concrete setting. It greatly minimises the chances of plastic shrinkage cracking in high evaporation conditions.

Typical Application / Uses:

  • Protecting concrete from excessive moisture loss in high evaporation conditions.
  • Minimising plastic shrinkage cracking
  • Horizontal finishing aid

  • Protecting concrete from excessive moisture loss in the plastic state in high evaporation conditions
  • Minimising plastic shrinkgae cracking
  • Horizontal finishing aid

Substrate Preparation:

Ideally this sealer should be applied on new freshly laid cured concrete. The surfaces should be water blasted and made clean, free from grease, loose particles, dirt, paint, curing compounds etc. Moss or algae growth should be removed with a suitable treatment and washed with clean water.

Mix one part of Cemix® Evaporation Retarder concentrate with 8 parts of water thoroughly by drill & paddle.

Apply a film of diluted Cemix® Evaporation Retarder by low-pressure fine mist spray to the surface of the plastic concrete immediately after it has been screeded. Reapply as and when required until the concrete has set.Thoroughly agitate contents before use.

Cure concrete after it has set using standard curing methods.
