Cemix Proflor is a two part concrete floor preparation product designed for leveling and patching concrete floors prior to overlaying with carpets, tiles, vinyl or timber. It is trowelled into place at thicknesses up to 10mm and can be feather edged.
Typical Applications & Uses:
- Concrete floor leveling & patching preparation prior to overlaying, tiles, carpets, vinyl or timber
- Up to 10mm application depths
- Can be feather edged
- Good bond strength
The substrate should be free of dust, grease, wax, oil, dirt, loose plaster, laitance, curing compounds, paint and all other friable materials and contaminants likely to prevent bonding. New concrete should be left with a wood float finish and sufficiently aged for a minimum of 28 days. Shiny smooth surfaces on old concrete should be acid etched or scabbled. CEMIX cement screeds/floor levelers must be allowed to cure for a minimum of 7 days. All substrates should be securely fastened and properly supported to eliminate any movement, which may cause cracking.
Movement / Control Joints:
Honor any control joints in the concrete substrate – do not apply product over control joints
Mix whole containers of product. Mix Cemix® Proflor Emulsion with Cemix® Proflor. Add 4L of emulsion to mixer & then add product to emulsion. Add rest of emulsion slowly whilst mixing until the desired consistency is achieved. Maximum total emulsion is 5L per 25kg of product. Mix thoroughly for 2 - 3 minutes using a drill & paddle or mechanical mortar mixer. Do not mix more product than can be mixed, placed & finished in 60 minutes.
Dampen the concrete substrate avoiding water ponding. Thoroughly prime the surface with Cemix® Proflor Emulsion brushed undiluted into the substrate. Do not allow the Cemix® Proflor Emulsion to dry. Firmly push the combined Cemix® Proflor Part A and Cemix® Proflor Emulsion Part B into the surface or void to obtain a wet bond before the emulsion dries. Application is from one side of the patch or floor to the other. Firmly compact the mortar by screeding or trowelling as required. Feather edge as required. Trowel finish as required. Apply product in layers for patching thicker than 10mm in depth. Roughen the preceding layer prior to it hardening; then dampen and prime the preceding layer with Cemix® Proflor Emulsion after it has hardened just prior to applying the next layer.
Ideally cure the product thoroughly after it has set by keeping it wet & covered for at least 3 days. Avoid product freezing for at least 3 days. Foot traffic should be possible within 24 hours. Over coating is possible when dry, usually after 3 - 7 days. Wait at least 7 days or more for moisture sensitive coatings.
