Cempoxy Mortar Putty

Description:

Cemix® Cempoxy UA Mortar/Putty is a high performance two part, low-slump, non-shrink epoxy mortar/putty formulated to allow hand mixing. It bonds strongly to dry or damp concrete, steel, stone, glass, aluminium etc. It sets quickly, can tolerate water & has excellent chemical resistance.

Substrate Preparation:

Substrates should be clean & free from all contaminants, loose particles, coatings, curing compounds, dirt, oil, grease etc. Prepare concrete by honing or etching where possible. Prepare steel by grinding or sand blasting. Substrates must be sound & roughened to ensure a good bond.

Movement / Control Joints:

Honour any control joints in the concrete substrate – do not apply product over control joints. Create control joints in the mortar as required especially in long thin sections.

Mixing:

Cemix® Cempoxy UA Mortar/Putty is supplied in packs containing the correct proportions of resin, aggregate and hardener. Use product immediately after mixing. While mixing, it is beneficial to wear rubber gloves and to keep them wet, so that product does not stick to hands. Mix until a consistent (no marble) colour is achieved. Avoid entrapping air during mixing. During mixing scrape the sides & bottom of the mixing container with a scraper to ensure that all components are incorporated. Larger volumes will generate heat & reduce pot life.

Application:

Keeping tools wet will assist in working the product into desired position. Apply mortar onto a clean, dry & roughened substrate. Mortar should be thoroughly worked into the surface. A thin skim layer should be applied to the surface first. After applying this initial skim layer, more mortar can be applied to the desired thickness before the skim coat sets. Alternatively Cemix® Cempoxy Liquid can be used as a bonding primer for Cemix® Cempoxy UA Mortar/Putty Once the mortar has been placed & started to cure, do not disturb or attempt to rework. Finishing of exposed surfaces is aided by using a trowel wiped with Cemix® Cleaning and Thinning Solvent just before the material becomes unworkable.

Post Application Procedure:

Do not allow mortar to drop below 10ºC until it has reached its minimum compressive strength.

Limitations:

  • Mix whole packs at a time; do not mix part packs.
  • Avoid entrapping air during mixing.
  • Larger volumes will generate heat & reduce pot life.

Storage:

One (1) year in original unopened containers. Do not store opened containers.

Cleaning:

Clean all tools & equipment before product hardens with Cemix cleaning and thinning solvent. Clean hands & skin with soap & warm water.

Precaution:

Do not apply product on to surfaces less than 10oC or more than 35oC. Do not use product in temperatures less than 10oC or more than 35oC.
