Cemix in the community

Cemix donates concrete to support There's a Better Way

Cemix was proud to help out in the community recently, donating concrete to help do up Mary McGorry's garden in Mount Roskill.

A flock of motivated youth descended upon retired schoolteacher Mary McGorry's house to help with much-needed maintenance for her garden and bathroom. The helpers were part of the initiative coordinated by There's a Better Way and Blue Light who are working with youth in Auckland with various programmes to reduce youth offending and help address youth-related problems. Cemix and Bunnings Mount Roskill both provided materials, while 25 youths got stuck into painting, weeding and laying concrete.

Mary was ecstatic with the results; an upgraded bathroom, a very tidy garden and new edging for the garden path.
Glen Green of There's A Better Way said, 'Providing youths with a way to participate and make a contribution in our community is just one of the things we can do to help change lives, making a pathway for positive change.'
